Black matt finish Naugahyde was my fabric of choice..The chair seats were done with a sink down affect, like a "donut" ...I ripped off the fabric piping, removed the sticking up staples..then I cut wood bases and drilled the 4 bolt holes in them. I used our other chair pads to fill in the middle of the donut, then put the wood on that ..and stapled the black Naugahyde over it all before replacing the seats on the frames...then bolted it all back together. Hard on the back, arms, wrists and hands due to the pressure to keep the fabric taut and stapled nicely. Only 1 popped blister on my hand...Fun Project.
