I have been asked to make sure all my children and their spouses are registered to vote the Nov. 4th election...you can do it by mail easy...but you must register SOON...there are deadlines..mid October !! The following website will be of great assistance in registering to vote:
http://www.sos.ca.gov/nvrc/fedform/Default.aspz. You need to print the form so you can sign it and mail it in NOW to beat the deadline !! That works for California at least [I understand.]..... if it doesn't work for your state I am sure there is a similar one for your state...check out your registrar of voters...and do it today !!!!...this rather unbalanced country needs every one's help !!..........thanks...Love ,mom

My brother called and wanted entertainment as he is indoors due to rain back east...So, I wasn't home because I was out getting a smog check on my car and registering it at AAA and getting insurance on it .....and changing ownership of the dark blue Toyota over to my neighbor Jim..I now drive a white Honda civic lx.It was a busy weekend...Friday we were walking in the evening and stopped by a family's house that B home teaches..as we were leaving Mike asked if we knew anyone that wanted to buy a 1995 Honda sitting in his driveway..His father-in-law has major health issues and can no longer drive....we told him we'd come try it out in the morning....we did and took it to our home teacher who is a mechanic . Joe looked it over and said it was in great shape for it's age and it was a good deal $1800. We bought it. I went and told Jim I was selling the blue toy for $1500. He had previously told me when I was giving it away to give it to him....we tried to give it to a family in our ward but they had just bought a scooter.....a couple of months ago we put serious money into that car to solve the puddle on our driveway...it worked briefly...we did not want to put more into it as it is the bottom of the line...no power and manual everything pretty much..I loved it for two years after my daughter S gave it to me when she got a van...but it has seen better days.....Jim is still driving an 18 year old Buick boat , that gets 10 to 12 gallons a mile downhill, on a good day with a back wind...when I told him it gets 30 something he was excited.. but he is on a fixed income..so he offered $1000. and we took it. So , that is what I have been doing for excitement...yup, another old car from the original owner who maintained it well ..all these transactions in the same neighborhood..and we all promised to still be friends if the cars die next week !!
Sunday my poor mom sat at the airport for 4 hours..we were supposed to pick her up at 10:10a.m. but that morning my sister called and said her flight was delayed and they rerouted her and she would be in at 2:45p.m. on American !....We checked online and she was booked on two different flights..so before we left for church we called Delta who said she was on the rerouted flight and would be in at 2:45p.m. When we got home from church she called and said she was at the airport..this is 2:15p.m............bummer...and she gets GOLD STARS for patience !!! She was on the original flight that made up for lost time !! Sorry mom !!!
E and S,[ B's sister] invited us over for dinner Sunday ..[.again.]..E BBQ'd hamburgers..I never have two..but I did...they were SSSSSSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD !!!..They finally actually set E apart as Elder's Qm. Pres.!!! Not bad for an ex homeless guy !! He gets 10 GOLD STARS on his chart !! Anyhow..that is my latest news ! Hope it is a good car for me !!

Have an interesting day !!!

Wanlads & Wanlasses

Wanlads & Wanlasses
Volume 08-02, September 2008

At Education Week this year I had the opportunity (and urging from Namma) to attend a two sessions put on by Don Aslett and Sandra Phillips. Don Aslett is the guru of cleaning. He has been joined by Sandra Phillips, who embraced his cleaning and organization methods and has now become a part of his creative staff. I attended the sessions entitles: Get Off the Excess Express! Why People Collect, and the Best Way to Eliminate Surplus in Your Home and Desk for Success: Organizing and Streamlining Your Home Office and Workplace. So what did I learn, here are the bullets:

  • We all have stuff that we think we will need but we have been storing it for years and haven’t needed it yet. Probably never will, etc.
  • Our children do not want any of our stuff so don’t save it for them.
  • The best way to de-junk is to begin early in the day when you are more RUTHLESS.
  • To clean your closet or dresser, dump everything on the bed and then only put away those clothes you will wear, still fit, are still usable, etc. If in doubt pass it on to the thrift store. (I did this last weekend and cleaned out my dresser and the three closets where I have clothing. I got rid of some clothes that were still wearable but why do I need eight long-sleeve, white shirts. I only wear one to Church and the temple. So now I have two. I got rid of socks, and jeans, and t-shirts, a coat, a sweater. And now I feel better. Also, I do not have to close stuffed dresser drawers and my clothes hang better in the closet.)
  • Do a little at a time. You can be overwhelmed by the amount and extent of your accumulated stuff. So start with a specific area and do it. Start to finish in a day or less.
  • Work bottom to top. This wasn’t fully detailed but they did talk a lot about how stuff that clutters your life has more of an impact at your working levels. So items that are higher up are actually less of a stress factor because you have to work to see them. But the things on the floor, at knee and waist level, and definitely at eye level become stressors.
  • Only organize and sort your stuff. Do NOT de-junk your spouse’s stuff.
  • Your office needs to be arranged and organized so that the papers and records, office tools and supplies are readily accessible.
  • Your office should be organized to make you more efficient. That means that whatever your work area may be your items need to be between eye and waist level for ease of use.
  • Important papers need to be accessible and secure. You can use whatever works for you fire proof lockbox, three-ring binder, etc.
  • Begin today.
  • Start small.
  • Be specific in what it is you are keeping and why.

(As an aside, if you are saving that size 2 dress or outfit because you are trying to get back into it, take a picture of it and move it on. By the time you get down to size 2 it will probably be out of style anyway. Likewise, those scraps of wood, or extra parts for the mower, or that tool that you used once for the 1973 Pinto, should likewise move along. They are just adding to your clutter, your frustration, and your stress.)

De-junk!

De-stuff!

Start now.

I’d better start today cause Namma is giving me that look. You know the one, Practice what you preach. And her foot is tapping, too!

The Wanlass family going back to school.

I did enjoy doing laps in their small but adequate swimming pool...generally un occupied..I still do a pretty good side and back stroke from my swim team days..and I still enjoy it !!!... B enjoys watching ...no great swimmer desires there...

So friends and family...our blog is in the lower scale of proficiency, attractiveness, organization and appeal...due to lack of computer experience on my part..but, hopefully you get the idea !!

This was the livingroom area of Homewood Suites in Fresno..we also had a kitchen.....So..why do the hotels that feed you breakfast and dinner free have a kitchen ?...Just wondering...

This is what S and I look like at 9:30 p.m. with a very active 3 year old and a sick 6 month old are finally in bed and asleep.

Fresno to Sacramento

We just got back from Sacramento this evening... L loved the race car set... D had a fever of 103 and was not too happy.. but hey,we had fun !! We stayed in their livingroom last night..M has a nice fence and restraining wall started out front and cool tri color lighting plans for it eventually..as time and $$$ permits you know !!! I am washing clothes now so B can fly out again Monday morning for work..San Fransisco...[yes we were almost there..]

We have spent the week at Homewood Suites in Fresno...today I check out and pick up my husband at the post office at noon. We are headed up to Sacramento to see our eldest daughter, son-in-law and grandsons...............I got a call this morning from grandson L...do you have the race car ?? I got a shake and race car set at a yard sale and told him about it and he has wanted it ever since..yes, it is in the car and we will play with it this afternoon...oh, okay !
This is a nice new motel.........I took photos but forgot to have B help me get them onto here...I predict the world will go on...I have enjoyed the pool and the free breakfast and dinners here !! I found a TJMAX giving things away yesterday...$3,$5 and $7...for lots of things..the store is an unorganized mess with tons of stuff. You just have to take the time to dig through and find the good stuff ..I did......headquarter people were there trying to help them clean up their store......I think I will go swimming and then go to that store again this morning before I head out...see if there are more steals waiting for me.........
