interesting chair



I found this interesting chair at Salvation Army today...it has no nails or screws holding it together.The back part of the sear slides into the front  part pretty securely...anybody have any ideas about it ?  It is more comfortable than you would think...It is very sturdy hardwood..and well balanced.  I paid the $12.00 because it amuses me !

I have a friend in VA with a chair similar to this. Hers is a birthing chair.. The handles help. They are rather rare as you know since you have never seen one before.

I just googled birthing chair and found a picture that matches yours. You could always attach a seat belt so that Dad doesn't fall out of his seat if he dozes off during dinner.
