the procrastinated projects get a turn

Yesterday I finished re caulking the tub area...Today I finished solving some major grout issues in the shower and when that dries I can seal it and caulk the shower and solve a knob issue...then we can actually use the shower. It has only taken me almost 6 months to get to it...My son and his wife moving in is good incentive.... I only got 3 green yard waste cans out this week for trash day because I had these indoor bathroom issues to resolve...[me, elbow grease and about a gallon of bleach. ] I put up another shelf in the utility room today..I need to buy two more brackets and one more shelf will fit there above the kitchen trash and recycling containers. Dadu wants another shelf in the closet in his room..............All I can say is he should be thankful he married a handyman...........He is a white collar worker and I am a blue collar worker, face it. Let this be a lesson kids and grand kids...get an education with actual degrees [not just art classes] so you can have the physically easier jobs in life !!

Today I did yard work for about 4 hours..........I cut down two more pine trees and sawed them up today{there are 8 more in about an 8 foot space}...I did lots of weeding...I drilled holes in a stump and put stuff in to help kill it slowly..The Relief Society President picked up her daughter's very expensive prom dress I altered. She said that was the best birthday gift she ever got !! { In her card I gave her a gift card for 2 hours free sewing,mending or alterations.} I sewed a pair of summer pj's for a tiny granddaughter...I made some gag birthday gifts for my brother's upcoming 60th birthday..poor ....old .... guy !!!! Tonight it is misting outside...cool !

Ramona adventure

This morning we dropped off our old microwave at the High School's E-waste collection point.Then went to Home town buffet for our weeks worth of cholesterol and fat for breakfast..it was DELICIOUS !! We stopped at some yard sales and drove up the mountain to Ramona..about 18 miles. I forgot my camera on this field trip !! We have to go back...GREAT lines of mailboxes !!! I love getting photos of those !!! We didn't see all of Ramona because we got distracted at their library's book sale outside. $1 a bag for paperbacks and $2 a bag for hardback books.We couldn't leave without two bags !! SOOOO we didn't get to see much this town has to offer .We did visit a little Ramona thrift store before our agreed upon half day was done. It was time to go home and do chores,yard work and grocery shopping [we invited a family of 6 over for dinner tomorrow]It was a lovely day !!!!

This morning I got a ride and went to exercise class at the church.....OH MY GOODNESS...it is done by a gal who does it professionally. I am the oldest in the class..but let me tell you, I am so out of shape, I am going to feel it tomorrow..I didn't do half of what she asked for !!! It was pretty intense. I am getting slower and whimpier I guess !
My neighbor brought over stump killer...I cut down a tree in the front with a hand saw....then she did in her yard..the same kind of tree..she already drilled her holes and put this stuff in them to kill the stump..I should do that today !! I also cut down 2 of the pine trees that are off the old stump...I have lots of those to go..they are like 20 feet high..............have circular saw will cut !! I am lazy today..yesterday I worked in the yard for 3 hours...we are up to 9 / 32 gallon green waste trash cans..the limit..then I sewed 3 little girl dresses. today..nada, just doing wash and dishes so far.

That guy on the mike in the front is our ward's Relief Society President's husband...he does tv and movie sound systems...he works at the Lawerance Welk Resort ..the guy on the keyboard is the LWR director....Stake Pres. on the drums in both photos.

Last night we had a ward party..two bands on either end of the cultural hall... and dancing and a sister teaching the cha cha steps..it was fun ! The professional band" Allen and the Haynieacts "was first..really good..It is our stake president's band. Two from the high counsel are singers, two men in our ward are in it plus the guy in our stake who runs the Lawrence Welk Resort here in the area..Allen Haynie plays electric drums..vigorously !! Our choir director has a mellow band and pres. Haynie plays regular drums for it ! Dadu even danced a few slow dances with me...every dance had couples,kids of all ages, groups, and single dancers like me out on the dance floor just having a fun time !!!

My brother requested some info on our baby sister's visit...what were they like...they were awesome..they came in, made themselves at home, played games did computers, ate nuts, talked about the historical stuff they were visiting this trip and watched Wild Wild West videos. We ate brown rice and soft tacos using beans not meat for dinner..my microwave just died that afternoon so I couldn't unthaw any meat. I cooked. Contrary to popular belief I can keep people alive with food. "many people have eaten my cooking and gone on to lead normal lives." For breakfast we had strawberries and french toast. They are an EXTREMELY well behaved family..really nice and fun.

Now I know we can handle 9 extra people here...at least for 2 meals and one night !! My littlest sister and her husband and 7 children..18 to 2 {maybe} visited !! It was really fun..it helps that they are an awesome family and very well mannered !! I am not saying they were terribly comfortable on foam pads but..hey, call it a camp out !!
